Tamiya's
1/48 scale Hetzer is available
online from Mission Models
Description
The base kit is Tamiya's absolutely superb new tool 1/48 Hetzer kit.
The model is built primarily out
of the box (in only a few hours without rushing it!), but some minor
items were scratchbuilt or altered. The headlight was wired, new
grab handles were added, and the side skirts and fenders were
thinned to better represent scale thickness. The hard-edge
camouflage pattern is entirely handpainted by brush with Lifecolor
acrylics.
The finish includes a very
time-consuming layered weathering process of Humbrol filters, Winsor
& Newton oil paint washes and more filters topped off with the
essential Mig Pigments.
Special attention was given to
realistically represent the weathered road wheels. The tracks were
painted with a custom mix of Humbrols and then layered with
additional Mig Pigments and graphite.
The replacement right side armor
skirt and new barrel add to the unique visual appearance of this
model.
It is properly depicted in
Northwest Europe during the summer months of 1944.
The model is featured in Issue 121
of Tamiya Model Magazine International.
