Here is my Airfix 1:35 Ferret Mk.2 Scout Car.

The kit’s plastic is fairly soft and easy to work with. The green colour is quite old-school – I like it.

Construction commences with the partial interior. Although some obvious details are missing from the interior including the instrument panel, pedals and levers, I decided to build the model straight from the box.

The lower half of the body is made up fairly simply of two sides and the floor. The remainder of the body and the turret are broken down almost into individual panels. At times it seemed more like a jigsaw puzzle than a model!

Mercifully, fit was pretty good but you do have to pay attention to aligning the parts perfectly.

Almost all the hatches are detailed inside and out and may be posed open or closed. I chose to button up my Ferret with the exception of the Commander’s turret hatches.

The suspension is not workable and steering is not poseable but it is nicely detailed.

My original plan was to leave the model in a glossy, clean dark finish with no weathering. This seemed to be the most commonly seen finish but in the end I chickened out.
