Description
Here is my Tamiya 1/35 scale U.S. Self-Propelled 155mm Gun M40. This is a brand new kit built from an early production set of sprues.
You can find my in-box review on Missing-Lynx by following this link.
I built the kit almost straight from the box, including the eight crew figures. There only addition is Tamiya's own metal barrel set, which also includes ten lovely turned brass rounds.
The eight crew figures included with the Tamiya kit are up to their recent very high standards. Although the idea of painting eight figures in one go seemed a bit daunting at first, it was easier and faster than I expected. They certainly lift the vehicle into the category of instant diorama too.
This another great kit from Tamiya and a joy to build.
Construction is described in detail in Issue 129 of Model Military International magazine, with painting and the figures covered in Issue 130. The second instalment also includes an excellent Think Tank reference article on the M12 and M40 SPG by Bruce Culver.

Thanks to Tamiya for the sample
