Comet Shield Canvas Cover Early TypeT-Rex Studio, 1/35 scaleReviewed by Brett Green
FirstLookT-Rex Studio has released four alternative mantlet accessories for the Tamiya’s new 1:35 scale Comet tank.
Two of them represent early and late version bare mantlet without canvas covers (this is not an option in the Tamiya kit), and two early and late style with the canvas covers.
I bought the early type with the canvas cover. This is the same style as supplied in the Tamiya kit and seems to be the most common configuration for wartime and immediate post-war Comets.
Clean-up should be pretty easy with the main cover mounted on many fine strips, which taper even thinner at the actual attachment points. Just plan on a bit of extra time for cleaning up any waste.
The fabric drape and the strips look very convincing.
A barrel end for the turret’s co-axial Besa gun is also included. This is also a single piece and it is hollowed out at the end.
ConclusionThis is a simple but effective enhancement for Tamiya’s 1:35 scale Comet tank kit. Purchased online from T-Rex Studio www.t-rex-studio.com
