Aber 35K01 Tiger I Early Production
Andrew Dextras
Known for their over the top photo etch sets, Aber now ventures I the realm of "all in one" detail sets with this release for Tamiya's 1/35 Tiger I Early. Essentially a "Mini-me" version of their monstrous 1/16 Tiger I set, this one consists of 3 large PE sheets, a sheet of engine grilles, small sheet of PE with chains, a jordi rubio turned aluminum barrel, tow and track changing cables, brass wire and a piece of wood for the jack block. Quality of the PE parts is superb as we've come to expect from Aber. This set is not a re-hash of their earlier Tiger I set, Aber has improved many of the parts and added a large amount of new ones. Main parts include engine grilles, side skirts, exhaust shields, a complete turret bin, sponson scallops, periscopes, tool fittings and countless detail parts for almost every section of the tank. The tow cables are a bit stiff and will require annealing to make them more flexible, I still prefer the Karaya cables for this sort of thing. The Jordi barrel is a nice touch and the wooden jack block looks much better than a piece of plastic. Instructions consist of a 34 page booklet which is superbly illustrated. Aber are clearly not fooling around here. Overall a neat new concept for "one stop detailing" and hopefully a sign of things to come. Highly recommended. AirConnection Website |
