FirstLook

Alpine Miniatures has a reputation for finely sculpted figures and this latest release, their 54th, is sure to please. It consists of a WWII German Officer with 2 Heads. This is a part of a combination includes 35055 named WWII German Officer #2.

In a clear plastic box, see photo 1, we will find a © Ziploc bags with parts for the figure along with a folded heavy paper color insert that serves as a painting guide. The photography is quite good and captures Jaume Ortiz Foms’ magnificent figure painting quite well.

The officer comes in five pieces with the fifth part being a spare head. The parts breakdown are a left arm, torso with integrally molded binoculars, documents in the right arm, 2 heads, and holstered gun. As expected from Taesung Harmms’ excellent sculpting, we see a very well proportioned figure with a casual stance.

The fit is very good and the pose is quite realistic with the hips thrown a bit to balance. The eye pieces of the binoculars are hollowed out but the lenses on the far side are not depicted. The left arm is resting on something so this may limit the placement of the figure with the modeler needing to find a suitable location.

The uniform is accurate and the cut of the overcoat is very well done but I wonder where the rest of the left side of the belt went. This is a beautiful figure which continues Alpine Miniatures lead in the figure field in terms of quality of pose, accuracy of uniforms, and value. The second head is always welcomed.

Highly Recommended.
