Bison Decals Tiger I, s.Pz.Abt.503 Operation Zitadelle Kursk (BD 35024)

by Frank De Sisto

1/35-scale water-slide decals with markings for five complete models. Price: $9.00 USD, plus shipping.

This second new sheet from Bison features Tiger Is used by s.Pz.Abt.503 during the July 1943 battle at Kursk. The five heavy panzers depicted are:

• Black/white 123, in dunkelgelb and olivgruen (or rotbraun).
• Black/white 242, in dunkelgelb and olivgruen (or rotbraun).
• Black/white 321, in dunkelgelb and olivgruen (or rotbraun).
• Black/white 323, in dunkelgelb and olivgruen (or rotbraun).
• Black/white II, in dunkelgelb and olivgruen (or rotbraun).

So, there is at least one Tiger from each Kompanie as well as a Befhels Tiger from the Abtielung command element. These Tiger Is also sported variations in the turret bustle stowage bins as well as unusual placement of some of the balkenkreuz national insignia, making them all rather unique.

The decals themselves are very crisply printed with each design on its own very thin carrier film. Registration is excellent. The instructions clearly show “what goes where”, often consisting of a profile as well as detail views. Numbers match the specific decal design to its location on each model, while color notes are also given. References are listed and the modeler can also visit the manufacturer’s web page for color images of the art.

Yet another neat set for Tigerphiles.

Recommended.
