Eduard Pz.I Befehlswagen 1/35-scale
photo-etched brass (35750)
by Frank De Sisto
Contains: two frets and four pages of instructions. Price: $24.95 USD.
The first thing one will notice within this set is the new rings that
are to be used to correct the appearance of the DML kit’s idler
wheel. DML modelled the part with a solid rim and configured it as having
a tire. The actual item was an open, “skeletal” affair without
a tire. The Eduard rims provide a quick, but only partial, cosmetic improvement.
The other main part dealing with the suspension system is a new girder
for the road wheels.
The remainder of the parts cover what is now the “standard”
for etch sets produced by this manufacturer. This includes clamps, brackets
and racks for all of the various tools and other external fittings. There
is a completely new smoke candle rack that includes mounting frame and
end cap retaining chains. There is also a perforated exhaust guard and
various vents and screens for the engine deck and superstructure rear
end. New front and rear mud flaps are accompanied by new horn, head-and
tail-lamp mounts, as well as the small lifting hooks located on various
surfaces of the vehicle. All hatches get internal and external details,
while the driver’s visor is also detailed with internal framework
and hinge mechanism. Finally, there are new supports for the antenna storage
frame, as well as an open bin, for the rear surface of the superstructure.
This set is quite simple and will really dress up the basic kit without
too much of a headache for the modeler.
Highly recommended.
