MAGACH 6B GAL BatashMeng, 1/35 scaleReviewed by Andrew Judson Summary
F i r s t L o o k
This vehicle is based on the M60 Tank, which the IDF commonly used. Magach 6B is the Israeli name for the M60A1E2 tank. It is modified quite a lot, replacing the MGs with Mag 58s, and a .50cal on the front. The turret has add-on armour and there is a more powerful engine as well. It is also equipped with the L7 105 mm weapons system main gun. On being presented the kit, you get the standard large box, with excellent cover art, in a high grade cardboard. Inside the box is when you get excited with 14 sprue of tan coloured plastic, the lower hull tub, the upper turret section, a length of cable, poly caps, a sheet of photo etch and decals, with choices for 2 vehicles. In total there are 813 parts, whoaaa!
There is also a colour profile sheet giving you vehicle colours and decal placement.
Lastly there is the 27 page instruction sheet, that appears easy to follow and very well drawn and explained.
The tracks are separate workable parrs, such the same as Modelkasten type, with a small jig to place the links on and then gluing the side pins.
Tedious but effective, remembering there’s no track sag with these as they were live tracks.
C o n c l u s i o n There’s nothing that I can see that I could really critique, as Meng has done their research as they always do with the assistance of Michael Mass, the Guru on the subject and a well-known researcher. I recommend this to all modern armour modellers, especially those who love IDF. I think you will be quite pleased!
