Star Decals Roundup - January 2024Star Decals, 1/35 scaleReviewed by Brett Green Summary
FirstLook Star Decals from Sweden has been busy lately with a batch of new 1:35 scale releases. The decal sheets are printed in perfect register. They have a satin finish but sit down on the surface of the model very well. I have used Star Decals on many project and they have always behaved well for me. All of these Star Decals releases are packed in a resealable plastic bag and feature a single folded A4 page of multi-view instructions. Each subject is illustrated in colour. Scrap views and notes are offered where necessary. The instruction sheet also has a helpful number map for the decal sheet. Each of the sheets are between USD$7.00 and USD$9.00 (plus USD$3.00 shipping per order). They are available online from Star Decals www.star-decals.net and model retailers worldwide. The six new releases being examined here are:
35-C 1394 – CanadianM113 in Bosnia UNPROFOR - UNPF
This decal sheet offer markings a selection of Canadian peacekeeping M113s in Bosnia. The vehicles are finished in overall UN white.
Also included are some blank number plates and a number jungle to come up with your own custom plates.
35-C 1395 – M8 75mm HMC
A decal set providing markings for M8 75mm HMC on D-Day and in France 1944.
These vehicles are attached to the US 2nd Armored Division. Four vehicles are covered.
10.SS-Panzer Division Frundsberg 1 - 4
Four of the new releases focus on 10.SS-Panzer Division. These cover a wide selection of vehicles from Sd.Kfz. 250 Alt and Neu variants, Panzer IV, Panther, StuG III Ausf. G and Sd.Kfz. 251 D.
A nice touch is the inclusion of blank number plates and individual numbers for the half-tracks.
All these vehicles are finished in typical late-war finish of Green and Red Brown over Dark Yellow.
All Recommended Thanks to Star Decals for the samples www.star-decals.net
