Here’s a nicely done history of the fall of Berlin, with plenty of detail about the approach battles on Seelow Heights and the Soviet envelopment of the city as well as the final battle. It’s aimed at the general reader so there is enough to describe the course of the fighting without going into the minutiae of individual infantry and tank actions – AFV modellers will find plenty of atmosphere but will need to look elsewhere for the types used and their markings since this is not a modeller’s reference but a history.
The photographs are mostly well known but they and the plates give plenty of ideas for Berlin street scenes, and AFVs do feature in them.
Anyone who is interested in the end of World War 2 in Europe will find this a good book to read, as a history it does its job very well indeed.
Recommended.
