US Field SafeHauler, 1/72 scaleReviewed by Graham Carter Summary
FirstLook Hauler continue to produce diorama and vignette accessories in the ‘one true scale’ and this is a tiny US Field safe that could fit into any suitable scene - perhaps showing pay day. It comes inside Hauler’s familiar resealable clear sleeve with backing card for protection.
The perfectly cast grey resin safe body and door are augmented by a set of shelves and an internal door in a 24x15mm PE fret.
The door has only a very fine web separating it from its casting block, but the body will require some care as the block is attached along the whole rear surface. I would suggest filling it with Plasticine or Blu-tac to reduce the likelihood of shattering it when sawing the block off. Remember to take care when sawing resin due to its hazardous dust. The parts have very fine cast details such as hinges and locks.
The photo-etched parts will also require care in their removal and folding as they are pretty small. The instructions are both sides of a narrow sheet and give clear guide to construction and colour notes - Olive Drab all over!! The result will be a very neat little item and comes recommended to the modeller needing one for a scene. I don’t think this is restricted to a military scene either and could fit into an industrial or commercial scene. It could also fit into any period as it looks pretty generic. This is an unusual but effective little accessory that could find its way into a military, industrial or commercial scene in 1/72 scale. Recommended. Thanks to Hauler for the sample.
