Opening the neatly presented packaging reveals a Pandora’s Box of
aftermarket accessories that makes up this set for the Dragon M2
Halftrack. Not only are there a lot of photo-etched frets in here (a
total of 6 separate frets) there is also a healthy amount of resin
as well as an acetate sheet with instrument detail on it.
The instructions also warrant a mention at this stage as they are
really well done, clearly illustrated, and even multi-coloured. In
fact, it is a perusal of the instructions at this early stage that
shows just how involved and detailed this set really is. Every bit
as complex and well engineered as any Aber set I have seen, Voyager
are obviously a company that takes this photo-etched game very
seriously.
The
metal itself is very finely etched, and includes infinitely tiny
components such as the fastener heads in crisp, clear detail.
Replicated fabric texture on the straps, brilliant tread plate
detail, and extra fine chain link make for some very impressive
parts indeed, and rank this as one of the best and most extensive
etched sets I have ever seen. Outside of 350th naval stuff that is…
The resin is also very neatly done,
and covers the mines, Jerry cans, and ammunition boxes. The
intricately detailed clear acetate rounds out the parts, with a
couple of springs and two lengths of plasticard thrown in for good
measure.
This is one excellent photo-etched detail set, and can’t imagine
there being much else that one could possibly do to the kit that
isn’t covered with this set. Perhaps add one of the multitude of
tyres sets that are available for the model, but aside from that,
everything is covered in this set.
I would say that, despite the fact that this set comes in at around
£19.00 in the UK (on the White Ensign Models website), it is good
value for money. This set exudes quality from the packaging,
straight through to the acetate film and judging from the pictures
of the built one it will vastly improve the overall appearance of
the already impressive Dragon M2.

Highly
